RedLets have gone green!!
At redlets, we believe that we all have a responsibility to do what we can to reduce our impact on the environment. Over the coming months we will be rolling out a number of initiatives that will help our business, our tenants and our landlords to make some small changes that will reduce and offset the amount of CO2 we all produce.
How can a letting agent go green?
Well, we are starting by taking moral responsibility for the running of our properties and the carbon produced during each tenancy period. We are also offering incentives for our landlords and tenants to think about how they can help reduce and offset the carbon produced within rented properties.
Here’s how we do it:
Carbon Neutral Tenancies
redlets are partnering with OxTreeGen to plant and manage trees in the UK which will grow and live for decades absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere.
Space heating, Lighting and water heating in the average home produces approximately 3 tonnes of CO2 each Year. A single tree can absorb 1 tonne of CO2 in its lifetime.
redlets are inviting our tenants and landlords to pay just £1 per month during each 12 month tenancy. In return, we will match their contribution and plant 3 trees on their behalf that will absorb approximately 3 tonnes of CO2 over the lifetime of the trees, offsetting the carbon produced during the 12 month tenancy.

Landlord Incentives
We would like to encourage landlords to take positive action towards reducing the environmental impact of the properties they let.
We want every new property we let to have a positive contribution towards reducing CO2, so to kick start the process we will plant five trees on behalf of the landlord and send him/her a free carbon reduction information pack along with the tree planting certificates.
We will also subsidise the cost of providing an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for each property we take on to encourage our landlords to provide more energy efficient homes.
We will encourage landlords to implement energy saving recommendations from the EPC report by planting a tree on their behalf provided they implement at least one of the energy saving recommendations from the EPC report.
Tenant Incentives
As well as encouraging our tenants to buy into our carbon neutral tenancy scheme, we provide our tenants with an information pack to help them make some simple steps to reduce the environmental impact of their everyday lives and save money on their energy bills.
